How this campaign was written

Why the shelf holds only three chapters, what the journal is for, and the storefront we never built.

It started as a reading habit

Open World Story Campaign grew out of a small, stubborn habit: one of us used to keep a paper notebook of every browser game worth finishing. The list was short, because almost everything on it eventually asked for a card number. What remained was quiet, free and playable in an afternoon — and that shortlist became this shelf.

We kept the language of books on purpose. Chapters instead of levels, a journal instead of a leaderboard, a colophon instead of a legal maze. It sets the pace we want people to read at.

Why only three chapters

Three is enough to have a mood for every afternoon and few enough that nothing feels like homework. A shelf of forty titles is a chore disguised as generosity; a shelf of three is an invitation. If a chapter ever stops earning its place, it will be replaced rather than buried under new ones.

Said plainly: everything here is free social entertainment. There are no purchases, no deposits, no balances, no prizes and no payouts. Nothing achieved on this site has any value away from the page.

What the journal actually does

  • Twenty-one entries, each written by finishing a chapter.
  • Entries cannot be bought, traded, gifted or lost through inactivity.
  • Entries unlock nothing — every chapter is open from your very first visit.
  • Nothing is shared, ranked or compared with other readers.

Who we write for

Adults aged 18 and over who want a slow hour without being profiled for it. That is why the age question comes before anything else, and why the only things stored anywhere are a traveller name you invented and your own answers to two questions.

What will never be added

  • No shop, currency, season pass or crate — not in this version, not in a later one.
  • No advertising networks, tracking pixels or behavioural profiles.
  • No daily streaks, expiring offers or notifications designed to pull you back.
  • No mailing list. If you would like to hear from us, write first.

Who keeps the shelf

Three people: a writer, a developer and an illustrator, working part-time from Valencia and Ljubljana. Letters arrive with all three at once through the write to us page, and one of us answers within a couple of working days.

Are you 18 or older?

This campaign is written for adults. Please answer before the first chapter opens.

Everything inside is free social play with no purchases and no prizes of any kind. Continuing means you accept our Terms of Use and have read our Play Gently notes.

Your traveller

Kept in this browser alone. No email, no server, nothing payable.

Names are written to this browser only, so a traveller started here will not exist on another device.

We keep a few local entries so the campaign remembers your age answer and your traveller name. Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising — the full list is in our Cookie Policy.
